The Chiang Mai sporting community is gearing up for the upcoming Amora Hotels & Resorts CNX Dimbulla Rugby 11s league.
After the success of last year’s league, it promises to be an exciting seven weeks of rugby. CMU RUGBY CLUB were spread thin last year fielding 2 teams. This year they have amalgamated into what will be a very competitive side, the CMU Purple Blacks.
Defending champions the Chiang Mai All Stars, will be looking to build on last year’s success and go back-to-back. They are going to have some fierce competition for that No 1 spot.
There will be a strong challenge from last year’s runners up, the Cobras Rugby Club, who’s player pathway program is producing good results in the local playing community.
The Lanna Rugby Club will hope to build on some promising performances last season and push for the title.
This year will also see the introduction of the women’s and youth rugby sections and a vet’s special, with exhibition games between Payap Rugby Union taking on a CNX select side in the over 35s category.
Khun Kiattichai Noptakul, a very experianced TRU referee will be running the officials for the duration of the league.
All games will be played at the excellent Chiang Mai University ground & will be livestreamed. Come on down and support grassroots Northern Thai Rugby.
Many thanks to sponsors, Amora Hotels & Resorts, Dimbulla Estate, Whitesmiths & Hell Energy Drink for helping develop the 11’s concept and supporting grassroots rugby.
